Solar Solutions

When It comes to converting our homes to solar power, the different solutions can seem overwhelming at first just finding out what is available can be confusing. Today there are so many technologies emerging at a dizzying pace, as everyone is jumping on the green revolution.

Yet, when I started looking for simple solutions for a project I had in mind, I was amazed at just what was out there and how it could be implemented in my own home.

Solar power has it’s pro’s and con’s; of course, depending on just how and where it is implemented. One of the most challenging for the average home owner is the high costs, and the length of time it would take to recover your initial investment.

When we own our systems, we will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the system, yet there will be some things that we just cannot maintenance wise.

Heating water and swimming pools have been in use for several decades now and is accepted universally. With more and more homes also converting to photovoltaic panels to generate electricity.

What I also found intriguing as a desert dweller with abundant sunshine is that there are solar powered swamp coolers available now. Now I know many individual might have never heard about a swamp cooler.

When I look at my monthly cooling costs during the summer months, this option makes perfect sense. One thing that might surprise others that live in cooler climates is that in the desert many of us also cool our garages as well.

Today we also have manufactures producing refrigerated air-conditioning units that are also solar powered, we sure have come along way.
